Start with a strategy
Four of the twelve, for when you already know the problem you are solving. The rest are grouped by topic above.
Seed keywords from customer conversations
The first keyword you type sets the limits of the whole list. Pull seeds out of call transcripts and ticket threads, in the words customers chose, then check which of them anyone searches.
Mine long-tail and question keywords
The tail is where a small site can still rank. Collect question queries from autocomplete, People Also Ask, and the impressions your existing pages already earn, then group them by the page that should answer each one.
Find who actually ranks against you
The site winning your queries is rarely the firm on your battlecard. Put a keyword set against the results and sort the domains that return into real rivals and shelf results.
Run a keyword gap without the brand noise
Strip brand terms from both sides before you read a gap report. What survives is a short, buildable list of terms where a rival has coverage and you have none.
